Bhagavadgita: Wordlists
Welcome to this page providing links to the lists of words found in the Bhagavadgita. The words have been arranged alphabetically for each akshara. The idea behind preparing the word list is basically to provide linguistic information such as the most frequently used words, the most frequently encountered syllable etc. Much useful information is already available in the lists which may be seen in Devanagari directly.

The word list was prepared by indexing the text of the Bhagavadgita. Each sloka was typed in after splitting the long strings into appropriate words and the set of 700 slokas indexed. It is said that this set of words is very meaningful for anyone desiring to learn the Sanskrit language. From the linguistic point of view, it may be of interest for us to find out which syllables are more frequently found and those which are rarely used.

  Here are some interesting statistics.

There are (approximately) six thousand words in the 700 Slokas.

The most frequently seen word is

The akshara that is most frequently seen is

  The lone syllable is

The Chandas shifts from the expected "anushtup" in some Slokas, specifically in Chapter N.

The wordlists may be viewed in parts by selecting the starting akshara of the word. The link to the page is provided below each akshara.
