Guidelines are displayed below

For the sake of simplicity as well as uniformity of text input across Browsers, we have decided to avoid Data Entry in Tamil. The query string (in Tamil) for search is actually built up from equivalent Roman letters entered in the search field as per the mapping seen in the image below. Eamples are also included

Key-Mapping

The search string in Tamil will be generated only if the string of equivalent Roman letters comes from the set shown in the image. Invalid input will be tagged suitably in the match results window at right. Query strings should have atleast 3 aksharas for the search to give results.

The advanced search will search through either the full list of Long words or Short words across all the volumes. The full list for each volume runs into tens of thousands and so a hundred or more results may be returned for many words. Scrolling cannot be avoided. Yet one can quicky find out if a word occurs in all the volumes with only a few occurrences. Quite likely such words would have some significance.

Advanced search works well for words in English which are transliterated into Tamil.
